The ferry trip takes around 20 minutes.

Once on the island if arriving as a passenger the public buses are timed to align with the ferry timetable, but this can also be viewed on Strandfaraskip Landsins website.
The bus on Kalsoy is around 100 DKK and you can pay it directly to the driver either by cash or credit card.

This process was actually quite easy and I would recommend this for the cost and convenience.

General Tips
The path is well marked all the way from the gate to the lighthouse. Sheep graze along the trail so be sure to stick to marked routes and close gate behind you.
The weather is extremely unpredictable in the Faroe Islands so always prepare for rainfall with a rain/windproof jacket.
Along the trail can get extremely muddy so be sure to wear sturdy waterproof footwear.
Ensure you take enough food and water for the hike as there are no facilities once you leave Trøllanes.
The best viewpoint involves walking across a narrow ridgeline to get a shot of the lighthouse with the dramatic sea cliffs in the background.
Be very careful around the cliffs especially in windy conditions as most of the viewpoints are extremely exposed.
Right near the lighthouse there’s a plaque commemorating the filming of James Bond No Time To Die (2021), adding a fun cultural stop.
It is worth a quick stop in Mikladalur on the way back, this seaside village is home to the striking bronze statue of the Seal Woman, one of the Faroe Islands’ most famous legends.
In total 3 hours would be enough time to complete the hike to Kallur lighthouse and explore both Trøllanes and Mikladalur (Seal Woman Statue)
